Church History
Origional deed dated May 30th, 1842. It is in Box 1, page 15, Madison County,Tennessee. The property was bought from Joab Wilson for the Methodist Episcopal Church.
Closing deed filed Sept. 3, 1953, Madison County Box 30 , page 250. Sold to S.A. Carter.

From an email from Bill King to Bill Lawson, 7/21/2011 Bro. Bill, I am looking at a copy of a deed filed Sept. 3, 1953, Madison County Box 30 , page 250. It states: That we, Mrs. Sallie Hardee, Mrs. Jessye L. Williamson, and Robert Hardee, Trustees of the Denmark Methodist Church of the County of Madison State of Tennessee for and in consideration of the sum of One Hundred Fifty (150.00) Dollars, Dollars paid as follows: Cash in hand to us paid have this day bargained, sold, transferred and conveyed unto S. A. Carter of the County of Madison State of Tennessee, the following described parcel of land situated, lying and being in the Town of Denmark, 2nd Civil District of Madison County, State of Tennessee, bounded as follows, to wit: Then it give a description of the lot which contains about 2 1/6 acres. The Church was right beside the cemetery. The S. A. Carter Estate is in a Trust managed by a bank in Dyersburg. Mrs. Louise Stevens is the heir to this estate, but she is in a retirement home in Jackson and her son Tom Stevens has power of attorney. . All through the years she has cared for the cemetery and Big Black Creek has helped with the care. Tim Batross, one of our members is looking after it now, and has paid some of the cost for its care.
Cemetery Disposition
Pending Survey As we discussed the desire to have the cemeteries on trust land surveyed. I have Professional Land Surveying meeting me Tuesday August 2 in Denmark to give your estimate of what it will cost to survey all 3 cemeteries to get 2 off of your tax liability. There will be no change for this per Brent at PLS. This company did Tyson and Lisha & Dan's surveying. I'll send you the estimate when I get it and will have each priced separately. Thanks.
